On the outside, Mackenzie Watson seems to have lived the charmed life. She's written and recorded three critically acclaimed albums, toured the world and is married to fellow singer/songwriter Jake Remington. But just as in every fairytale heroine, Mackenzie has had her own trials and obstacles to overcome that eventually lead her to where she is today.

Although modest due to lack of money, her early childhood was full of laughter and joy. Raised by a young, single mother in a small town in Texas, Mack learned from an early age the values of hard work, dedication and how to make every dollar count. It was her mother that had instilled in her the compassion and drive to make the most of life. And it was also her mother who was willing to give up what little they had to make Mack's dreams become a reality. It was obvious to everyone that knew her that Mack wanted to be a star. And it was her mother that took her daughter to countless talent shows between double shifts at the diner she worked at. She scraped up every cent to her name just to enroll Mack in voice lessons. And it was in those classes that Mack honed her already innate skills to an art form.

But at age eleven, Mackenzie's whole world fell apart. Her mother fell extremely ill and in a few short weeks after the news of her illness, she passed away. Devastated by the loss of her best friend and her biggest fan, the adolescent girl turned inward. All of her dreams slipped away with the death of her mother and the once vibrant girl lost the passion that used to light up her eyes. She went on that way for months, barely speaking a word to the father she was forced to live with in Tennessee. A father she barely knew. And she probably would have gone on that way forever if she had never met the boy that lived down the street from her father's house.

Jake Remington. Although she tried to keep to herself at her new school, Mackenzie couldn't help but fall for Jake's charisma. Even at a young age, he had a way of pulling people in with both his sense of humor and blatant honestly. Mack quickly became friends with the boy and often spent most of her time at his house after school, especially when her father was out of town for work. Mrs. Remington readily accepted Mackenzie into her home and Mackenzie latched onto the woman because in a lot of ways, Mrs. Remington reminded her of her own mother. Even when Jake was at basketball practice or out with friends, Mackenzie spent a lot of her time with Mrs. Remington in her kitchen. It was there that Mack picked up her love of cooking.

As soon as they graduated high school, Mack and Jake parted ways. Mack set out for Los Angeles in an attempt to make it big in the recording industry and Jake headed to UNC to play college ball. Unfortunately, Los Angeles wasn't as glamorous as Mackenzie had let herself believe and the young girl quickly found herself in over head. Although everyone seemed impressed by her talent, no one seemed willing to give Mack her big break. Struggling to make ends meet, Mackenzie resorted to dancing for money. Being young and naive and against her better judgment, Mack succumbed to the advice and pressures of those around her. At that point in her life, she never paused to think of the consequences that came along with the fast lifestyle she was leading. And to this day, very few know the truth behind Mack's past between the time that she moved to LA and when signed her very first recording contract.

Nearly two years passed before Mackenzie finally found herself on the path that she had always dreamed of following. As soon as her debut, self-titled album was released, it quickly made it's way to the top of the music charts. Mack found herself caught up in a whirlwind of promotion and touring for almost two years straight. In 2003, life had begun to slow down again for her when the record company settled her into a new apartment in LA with the hopes that she'd begin recording a new album. Little did she know that Mackenzie know that she'd be living in the very same building as her childhood best friend, Jake Remington. Their paths had crossed a few times along the way in the few years since they had graduated from high school, but they were never in the same place long enough to really reconnect.

The pair quickly rekindled their friendship. Mackenzie was surprised to find that for the first time in her life, she was drawn in by Jake's good looks and laid back demeanor. She was attracted to the fact that Jake was one of the few men she had met who still managed to seem unaffected by the fame and all the perks that came along with it. Well, aside from women. But she had always known of his love for the female persuasion.

2004 was a big year for Mackenzie. She released her sophomore album, a record that was much more personal and meaningful to her than her debut. But the most important part of that year occurred on one fateful, spontaneous road trip to Vegas. Mackenzie Watson and Jake Remington were married. From that moment on, the pair had a tumultuous relationship. Mackenzie had finally given in to the realization that she had fallen for Jake, but Jake definitely wasn't on the same page as Mack. And so it went on that way for years. Although they loved each other, their love was never enough to keep them together.

For awhile, Mack took a small hiatus from music and tried her best to stay out of the spotlight while as attempted to get her personal life together. But she didn't manage to stay away from the pull of music for too long. After seeing pictures of Jake with other women in the tabloids, she began to write again and managed to piece together an album. She didn't do much touring or promotion for the record, but it still seemed to do well commercially.

Eventually, she even attempted to date. But every man she found herself with never once compared to Jake. And it wasn't until that she and one of her dates literally bumped into Jake that she realized just how much she still truly loved her husband. Soon after that accidental meeting, the pair were reunited at a mutual friend's wedding. It was there, that they decided to give their marriage another try.

Finally, she and Jake were on the same page. In Mack's mind, she had more than could she could ever want or need. Dreams come true weren't just the fantasies of little girl dreams and fairytales for Mackenzie Watson-Remington. Happily ever after had somehow become her reality.
